EDIT : scratch what I just wrote : so you can't pick up flares. Meaning that self_actions is indeed broken.
In that case, I can tell you that it will be fixed tomorrow : the new intro was breaking both this file & the breath fog for the same reasons. ;)

That's a bit weird, it seems that chemlights are handled by the same action sequence than roadflares... :/

There's a minor issue with the mouse-wheel menu options once you pickup a chemlight
I just tried, and as far as I'm concerned I didn't have any issues.
My guess is that you ran into an occasional small bug (might be that the game didn't have the time to "record" that you took the chemlight); tell me if it keeps happening. ;)

Man something must be wrong in your install; that is also handled by the self_actions file - as long as it's working (and I'm pretty sure it is), you can gut any kind of animal, no matter the specie.
(One simple way to ensure that self_actions is working, is to throw a flare and check if you can pick it up.)
Maybe you should install the full release, and make sure that you use one @mod folder & one shortcut by release : it seems to me that some people keep using one shortcut for all the DaiZy releases, wich is most likely to cause all kind of issues.
Oh, I tried chemlights on a new game and it's working now. It was really weird before. Each time I threw a new chemlight and then picked it up, it had drop/extinguish/pickup in the menu. So at one point I had 3 or 4 sets of drop/extinguish/pickup displaying, like it never removed the old ones.
